Football for the World Ten Year Celebration: The Kickoff Event

Football for the World has been conducting programming in Omaha, NE for 10 years. Since piloting our first program at Jackson Elementary, the organization has grown to serve 700 youth annually with free soccer programs, ensuring that marginalized communities across our city have access to resources and opportunites to play that may otherwise be unavailable. It's been possible because of the countless individuals that have attended our events, made a monetary contribution, volunteered for us, donated equipment, hosted a drive, followed us on social media, or engaged in any number of activities to support this work.

To mark our milestone year for FFTW-USA, we want to host a series of events that bring together like-minded community members like YOU committed to using football for good. We’re taking what happens on the field and continuing to push beyond the goals. The weekend will include a 5-aside adult tournament, a soccer-inspired art gallery highlighting local artists and creatives, and a jersey party to celebrate, but it starts with THE KICKOFF.

The Kickoff Event

• Set the Bar in Benson - Omaha's first Women's Sports Bar
• 10% of all sales from Set the Bar that evening being donated to Football for the World
• Customization station available to upcycle or stylize your own jersey, tote bag, or additional item
• Free to RSVP

Set the Bar
Set the Bar is Nebraska's first women's sport bar created to support and elevate women's sports. More than just a sports bar, their goal is to create a community hub, focused on values of inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration, in addition to a shared passion through food and drink.

Cheers Queers
Formatted as a monthly pop-up event for the LGBTQ+ community of Omaha and it's supporters, Cheers Queers creates spaces rooted in celebration, acceptance, and authenticity. Their collaboration event with Football for the World and Set the Bar will be the kickoff to their series of events, hosted monthly in a variety of locations. Football for the World was selected based on their LGBTQ+ forward curriculum, inclusivity summit and trainings offered, and emphasis on supporting LGBTQ+ communities in and through sport.
