Join us for Brian Friel’s last full-length play, presented as a site-specific performed reading in the heart of the historic linen village of Sion Mills. Set in 1878, The Home Place explores the fragile identity of the Anglo-Irish Big House tradition amid the rising tide of Irish nationalism and scientific colonialism.
Scheduled alongside Translations in Donegal, this Tyrone-based sister play brings Friel’s lifelong interrogation of language, belonging, and power full circle.
🎓 Enjoy a FREE Hedge-School interval between acts with traditional tea and tray bake in the beautiful grounds of Sion Stables.
💬 Featuring a talented cast under the direction of David Grant, this special community co-presentation is a rare chance to experience The Home Place close to Friel’s own birthplace of Killyclogher, in a setting that mirrors the very world of the play.
