The Town of Old Saybrook will host its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th, 2025 with a special highlight featuring two military flyovers of the parade route provided by the Connecticut Air National Guard between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
This year’s Memorial Day Parade will feature two ceremonies: a Dockside Naval Ceremony at 9 a.m. (rain or shine) followed by the parade at 10 a.m. ending at the Veterans Memorial Monuments on the Town Green on Main Street.
The day's events on Monday, May 26th will begin with the Dockside Naval Ceremony assembling at 8:45 a.m. for all participating units at the Saybrook Point Pavilion parking lot located at the end of College Street, with a Wreath Laying Ceremony on the Connecticut River at 9:00 a.m. (rain or shine).
The Parade Assembly will be at 9:30 a.m. at the Stop & Shop parking lot off of Elm Street. The Parade will then step off promptly at 10:00 a.m. from Elm Street. The Parade will go straight across Route 1 to Main Street and then proceed to the Veterans Memorial Monuments on the Town Green, where a Memorial Program will be conducted. In case of the parade's cancellation due to rain, the Memorial Program ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Old Saybrook Fire Headquarters at 310 Main Street.
This year, we are excited to announce that Gil Simmons, a United States Marine Corps veteran and Chief Meteorologist for NEWS8 WTNH, will serve as our Master of Ceremonies.
Once again by popular demand Lennell Holloman, a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran also known as the Boston Post Road/Route 1 "Flag Man" seen proudly waving the American Flag, has agreed to participate in the Old Saybrook 2025 Memorial Day Parade
