You are cordially invited to join us for a metaphysical feast from the British Isles. Steeped in folk magic, the Dumb Supper Gala will reunite the living with the dearly departed in a historical haunted locale. After the sun sets, you will be guided through a formal ritual, the solemn feast observed in silence to honor one's ancestors and make connections with the Spirit realm. Psychics and Mediums will be ready to assist with confirmation of your connection during the cocktail hour that follows. This event can strengthen your connection with ancestors already revealed, as well as offer new bonds between oneself and other spirit guides.
Roots beginning in England in the 17th century, the Dumb Supper arose as much folk magic does, out of a lack of conventional avenues of free expression. Young women; who’s destiny lay in the hand of her father and society’s restraint, used the Supper to divine their future spouses and the fate they would meet in married life. Meeting in abandoned houses, the young women met as late as possible to isolate themselves from the world of the living. The event unfolds backwards, with cutlery and chairs reversed, the meal is also served backwards. Supper would be taken in silence, to heighten the other senses and let as many signs & clues about the future come forth. In the last 100 years, the restoration of the pagan traditions has adapted the ritual to honor the dead while reaching out beyond the Veil to connect souls.
For the best experience at The Dumb Supper Gala, it is wise to attend to a few guidelines. Formal funeral dress is encouraged. We dress for special occasions, your spirits communicate often in form rather than words. If you see this as a special time, so will they. No children are permitted. Taking care of children can distract you from signals and it isn't fair to ask a young person to be quiet for 20 to 30 minutes to take in the meal.
Preparation for connecting begins well before the event. Best practices will be emailed out with ticket purchase.
Your evening will begin at 7 with check-in.. You are encouraged to bring a photo of the departed and place it on our Ancestor altar located on the stage. If you do not have a photo but still wish to bring an object to be charged at the event as a focal point for later work, please do so. Is this also useful if there is no individual you wish to honor, but rather all who came before your time. These items will stay on the Altar until the evening ends. Dinner is served family style. Each table will have a special plate for Spirit. Dinner is served backwards with dessert first, the main course, and then we finish by breaking the bread. You will be given a set of instructions from a local magic practitioner. Repeat them to yourself silently to build a bridge from your being to the beyond. During the meal allow your mind to expand, make note of any body sensations or unusual movement from the candles and other center pieces on each table, these are often spirits attempting to communicate. Do you have images flash in your mind or smell things that couldn't possibly in the current location, your psychic gifts are opening up to receive messages. When you have finished your meal, place the cutlery in an “X” over your plate, take a moment to let gratitude expand in your heart space. After that time, you will be guided to gather your ancestors' items and say your good-byes. Many guests report dreaming deeply or having prophetic dreams after the Dumb Supper. The connections you make during this event are only the beginning.
