Pitches, Pizza & Pints is a monthly event hosted by The Verge OKC, designed to provide entrepreneurs with a low-stakes environment to pitch their business ideas, receive feedback, and connect with fellow innovators. Held every Fourth Wednesday, the event brings together founders, intrapreneurs, and business leaders for an evening of networking, idea-sharing, and collaboration—all over free pizza and drinks.
September’s featured Founder Talk is Jamel Stephens, CEO and Founder of AFROPOP, a craft soda company dedicated to celebrating and elevating local BIPOC artistry while showcasing the vibrant diversity of Oklahoma’s beverage industry.
Raised in rural Oklahoma, Jamel discovered artistic expression as a means of self-discovery, a passion that eventually grew into his vision for AFROPOP. Beyond his role as founder, he serves on the board of the Oklahoma City Black Chamber of Commerce, has been recognized as a 30 Under 30 nominee, and continues to give back through community service. With a background that spans brewing, music, and entrepreneurship, Jamel is on a mission to inspire and lead his city, state, and generation.
Whether you’re a startup founder, creative thinker, or simply curious about OKC’s entrepreneurial scene, this is the place to be. We also welcome attendees to deliver a 90-second elevator pitch to grow brand awareness and connect with potential partners and customers. 🤝
