Tending to Grief: A Spanglish Community Altar Workshop

As Día de los Muertos approaches and the veil between worlds grows thin, we gather in comunidad to honor those we love, to tend to our grief, and to root ourselves in ancestral wisdom. With flowers, memory, and ritual, we weave together a space of healing and remembrance. We’ll move gently between reflection, ritual, and creativity, building a community altar together while honoring our loved ones.

Este espacio será en Spanglish — open to Spanglish comunidad, and anyone curious to connect with these traditions with respect, reverence and openness.

This gathering is hosted by Dr. Nubia of Raíces with Nubia in collaboration with Selena of Sunflor Co., a 2rd generation florist.

As Día de los Muertos se acerca y el veil entre mundos se siente más delgado, nos reunimos en comunidad to honorar a nuestros seres querid@s, cuidar nuestro duelo, y enraizarnos en la sabiduría ancestral. Con flores, memoria y ritual, tejemos un espacio de sanación y remembrance.

Nos moveremos con suavidad entre reflection, ritual y creatividad, co-creando un altar comunitario mientras honramos a nuestros loved ones.

Este espacio será en Spanglish — abierto a la comunidad Spanglish y a tod@s quienes tengan curiosidad de conectar con estas tradiciones con respeto, reverencia y apertura.

• 3:30 pm - Come early to buy a seasonal Plantology cafecito ( cafe closes at 4)
• 4:00 pm - Mini grief circle ritual
• 4:30 pm – Platica on altar traditions (with Selena, 2rd generation florist)
• 4:45 pm – Floral activity: Marigold garland making & de-petaling
• 5:15 pm – Co-create community altar
• 5:45 pm – Closing circulo

🌼 Dr. Nubia — Trauma- Informed Psychiatrist, sound healer, and community grief-tender, founder of Raíces with Nubia.
