Shakespeare was not writing literature; he was not writing esoteric poetry for elites.
He was writing material to be performed …
A good afternoon’s entertainment.
And that’s the spirit we want to rekindle.
Certainly Shakespeare wrote beautiful things: profound, uplifting, tragic, wise …
But none of Shakespeare’s work was published in his lifetime.
He wasn’t interested in that.
He wanted people to come and enjoy the show.
So do we.
You might not walk away a lifelong Shakespeare fan …
But, I reckon you will walk away having had a good time.
