Music fans won’t want to miss “Song So Wild and Blue: An Evening of Story & Song Inspired by Joni Mitchell.’’
On Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., the Collingswood Grand Ballroom will be transformed into an intimate space for an evening of readings and conversation with Paul Lisicky, whose latest memoir “Song So Wild and Blue’’ reflects upon Joni’s influence on his own writing and life.
And curated and led by vocalist Peg Talbott-Lane, Love City Collective will bring a selection of Joni’’s work to life in a performance inspired by Lisicky’s luminous “Song So Wild and Blue.”
Joined by Barry Hollander on guitar and Andrew McMaster on piano, Love City Collective explores Joni’s rich emotional landscape, from smoky jazz to open-tuned folk, tracing the lines between love, loss, memory and reinvention. The performance explores the emotional and sonic parallels between Joni’s compositions and Lisicky’s reflections, blending storytelling, memory and musicality in one unforgettable evening.
The evening also will include an interview with the author by journalist and host Tammy Paolino, book sales by Inkwood Books of Haddonfield, light snacks and a cash bar.
This event is co-sponsored by and will benefit the Collingswood Book Festival and the Collingswood Foundation for the Arts. Tickets are $20 in advance; $24 at the door.
