Defense Design Studio - May 2025

The Portfolio Defense is the capstone activity of a whole-school performance assessment system, pulling knowing, doing and reflecting into one place, into one moment. It is a student’s final exhibition and the culmination of a 4-year journey. Similar to a masters defense or professional presentation, students stand before a panel of peers, educators, and mentors to demonstrate the depth of their knowing, doing, and reflecting as evidenced by their academic work and self-reflection.

An Envision Learning Partners Defense Design Studio consists of two parts:

1. Observe a live student defense: Watch a student defend their learning in front of a panel.
2. Debrief! Talk with an Envision coach and fellow educators about how to translate this nationally-recognized assessment model to your own educational context
