Join us for the opening of New World Coming, an exhibition presented by Queer Cultural Center (QCC) and Tiara Amar (they/them), as part of the Spring Queer Arts Festival (SQAF). This two-week exhibition visualizes queer erotics in revolutionary poetry from the 1980s and 1990s, cherishing queer ancestors through their moments of longing and fantasy.
To mark the opening, we’re celebrating with an evening of poetry that connects archives, longing, and anti-imperialist resistance. Tiara Amar, a Bengali transdisciplinary artist, organizer, and curator based in Oakland, leads the event, blending writing, still and moving images, and percussion to explore the magic of Bay Area earthscapes and queer/trans life.
New World Coming honors intergenerational delusion as a blueprint for resistance, creating a gallery space where queer longing and anti-imperialist struggle meet. Reflect on the past and imagine a future of liberation, joy, and connection, starting with this powerful opening night.
