This enjoyable walk will be led by two of our experienced Battlefield Guides and as you walk, they will regale you with tales of the historic Battle of Bosworth, King Richard III’s demise, and the remarkable triumph of Henry Tudor.
Highlights will include: traversing across the actual site of the battlefield, the locations of Richard’s Camp, Shenton Station, Shenton Hall, the site Richards last stand, the Stanleys Camp, Stoke Golding Church, Dadlington Church where some of the dead are believed to be buried and the Ashby canal!
There will be a 30 minute talk at the Heritage Centre before you leave, to give some historical context to the walk.
The walk will be approximately 6 hours in duration and will cover 8 miles. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
This walk may be physically demanding. There will be a variety of terrain types during the walk including gravel paths, tarmacked roads/footpaths, and ploughed (potentially muddy) fields. There will also be the need to climb over a few stiles/gates. Please note that if you do decide to end your walk early, our team cannot be responsible for getting you back to the Heritage Centre. Please wear sensible footwear and appropriate clothing.
Please bring your own lunch and refreshments – there may be opportunities to purchase additional food and refreshments during the walk, but this is not guaranteed.
Suitable for people aged 12+. Under 18s must be accompanied by an Adult. Unfortunately, this walk is not suitable for dogs.
