Victoria Station Remembered Exhibition

Victoria Station was an amazing cathedral of steam, right here in the city centre; designed by Albert E Lambert, the station was built in a renaissance style, and opened on 24th May 1900. Victoria Station was originally run by two different companies, the Great Northern Railway, who wanted to call it Nottingham Joint Station, and the brand new Great Central Railway, who wanted to call it Nottingham Central. A compromise was reached when it was noted that the station opened on Queen Victoria's birthday, and the rest is history. Lasting just 67 years, Victoria Station left a lasting imprint in the minds and hearts of everyone who passed through her, whether working there, going off to war, catching trains to the seaside or just sitting on the walls trainspotting, she was a much loved, and is a much missed station, and her 125th anniversary deserves to be commemorated.
