The Pride Shop
65 Maid Marian Way, Nottingham, United Kingdom
Nottingham Nourishment Network CIC and We Will Be Proud are happy to announce that we are hosting a new social for Black, Brown and other racially marginalised LGBTQIA+ people in Nottingham.
Come and join us at The Pride Shop on 21st August for a chill, sober, hang out where we can get to know each other, dream on what future socials and community could look like, and honour our place within the LGBTQIA+ community in Nottingham.
Nottingham Nourishment Network CIC will be bringing our Ital Iwe mobile library, with books you can read or borrow. You can view our catalogue here.
For safety, you will need a valid ticket for entry. This is a free event, but we will be accepting donations both via Eventbrite and in cash on the night to help cover the cost of space. This is a casual and self-funded event being organised under our community project banners.
We will provide some (limited) hot and soft drinks and vegan cookies, but there is the option to purchase more drinks and snacks directly from The Pride Shop.
We want all our events to be as accessible to as many people as possible, so please do let us know if you have any access needs. There is parking nearby, a wheelchair accessible toilet next door, a toilet with a small step on site, level access within the shop and a few different types of chairs. This space is not suitable for small children due to it being a working shop, however if you need to bring children into the space so that you can attend please let us know and we can try to work with you to make it safer. We can provide further information about any accessibility or location information at request.
This is a closed community event that is only open for Black, Brown and other racially marginalised people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, agender or cultural identities that fall under the LGBTQIA+ Western umbrella.
We have a zero tolerance policy on any forms of oppression and oppressive behaviours and we prioritise those most marginalised within the space.

About us!
Nottingham Nourishment Network CIC is a community project focusing on radical holistic health and wellness for the Black community locally. We are Afrikan and Queer run and we have previously set up a community garden, done workshops and events around foraging, education and food, distributed culturally appropriate and health conscious food to members of our community, and run a community library. We will have more events launching in the Autumn season.
This event will be co-hosted by Eshe Kiama Zuri (they/them) co-founder of Nottingham Nourishment Network CIC. Eshe is an emergency community doula and activist. Eshe is the founder of many projects including UK Mutual Aid, Doulas Decolonising, The Anima Print, and set up Notts Queer Pride (2018-2020) and Notts Activist Wellness, a project hosted Cutie Pops Club and other Black, Brown and other racially marginalised LGBTQIA+ social events back in the 2010s.
We Will Be Proud
This event will be co-hosted by Théma (she/her) co-founder of We Will Be Proud. Théma is a lesbian with a strong passion for community building and mental health advocacy. She is really passionate about community building in Nottingham in particular.
