Get set for the gnarliest 80’s party in town at Norwood’s hottest tavern! Enjoy a full menu of delicious pub fare with a cold beer, while listening to all the biggest “feel good” hits from the first decade of MTV — performed live and in person by Rockland County’s original and longest-running 80’s party band, The Georgia 5! It’s the ONLY 80’s band featuring Jumpin’ John Carson, the area’s premiere frontman and entertainer. Mark your calendars now and RSVP so you don't miss the fun! It’s gonna be totally tubular!
Big hair. Capezio shoes and Members Only jackets. Leg warmers, parachute pants and skinny ties. Nothing defined a decade more than the fashion of the 1980’s, but when a new cable channel called MTV quietly went on the air in August of 1981, everything changed. Not only could you hear your favorite music, in stereo, now you could see it, too. Video killed the radio star, and the rest is history.
A decade later, a group of close high school friends formed the Georgia 5: 80’s Dance Party and began to hone their 80’s show. They played all the hits they grew up with, by the artists who made up the soundtrack to their adolescence; The Cars, Loverboy, Prince, Huey Lewis, Squeeze, J. Geils Band, David Bowie, Rick Springfield, The Stray Cats, The Buggles, Human League and The Knack. Fast forward 29 years later and these songs still make people feel good.
The Georgia 5: 80’s Dance Party takes you on a musical journey back to the best of times. It’s as though you’re at the hippest backyard party in the neighborhood with a giant boom box playing your favorite mix tape. Gnarly!
