We are thrilled to be joined for this session by artist and maker Tara Sampy for a Plant Printmaking and Creative writing workshop :)
To capture the energy of the garden in May using printmaking and creative writing to create a Florilegium:
Florilegium (from the Latin meaning ‘a gathering of flowers’) was first used to mean an anthology of choice writings from various authors – a literary bouquet. By the 18th century its definition became more literal and came to refer also to a portfolio of botanical illustrations.
Let's explore the variety of growth in the garden, and delve deeper into the stories of the plants and the connections we have with them.
Learn how to make your own unique plant prints in this creative hands-on workshop full of play and wonder.
In the workshop you will be guided through the materials and equipment, and explore a variety of creative techniques using layers, textures, stencil masks and colour combinations.
This printing process is for everyone, no previous experience needed.
The dyer's garden needs some tender loving care as well, we have some plants to water, some weeding and some planning and mapping to do. There will be some time dedicated to this throughout the session. And equally if you want to come along and just have a walk in the garden, enjoy a nap in the hammock and a yummy bowl of soup, that is also welcome.
We will provide a simple warm vegan and gluten free lunch of soup, and we would love to hear your thoughts and have your input in the planning of the garden. We'll have some beautiful books to look at for some inspiration.
If you would like to book, please head to the link available in the event bio. Everyone needs to fill out a booking form for their first time to this project, even if you have joined us before for another project.
With excitement, Amy and Shona
