The course can also be booked as individual sessions for those who can not attend all three classes. Fall in love with painting over the three sessions exploring Landscapes, Portraits and The Figure. Suitable for beginners and improvers. Enjoy the opportunity to paint different subjects from life using both acrylic and/or oil paints and canvases provided. Paint the landscape as well as portraiture and the figure, working from a life clothed model. Practice observational techniques to capture colour and form, as as well as abstract and expressive techniques.
The location for this course is the historic Waterloo Park Pavilion. We will be in the stunning Sandys-Winsch Room upstairs overlooking the beautiful 1900's park. There is parking on site and a lovely café downstairs (The Feed).
Learn and improve oil painting techniques including layering, inspired by the Flemish masters, and 'alla prima' painting. Learn how to mix oil colours and use glazing, texture and other mediums, as well as different tools for painting including palette knives.
All materials are provided so you do not need to bring anything unless there are specific materials you particularly want to use.
Whether you are a complete beginner wanting to unwind through art, are looking to develop your existing art practice or are interested in joining in with regular creative group activities this course is a perfect opportunity to learn new artistic skills and be creative with like -minded people.
