In celebration of International Workers’ Day, Norwich and District Trades Union Council, in conjunction with the Norwich Transformed Festival, are presenting a showing of the film Nae Pasarán at Chapel Field Methodist Church, Norwich, Friday 9th May, 7.30pm.
Nae Pasarán is a film about a group of workers at a Rolls Royce factory in East Kilbride, Scotland, who refused to work on parts destined for the Chilean Air Force from 1974-78, due to the atrocities carried out by the Pinochet dictatorship. With the current ongoing provision of military hardware by the British state in support of Israel’s genocidal assault on the people of Gaza and now the West Bank, the contemporary relevance of this film is obvious. The film shows us that organised workers can and do have power to oppose the oppressive and vicious actions of capitalist and imperialist states.
The Norwich Transformed Festival takes place at the same venue the following day. We encourage our affiliate unions to bring along their banners either to the film, or on the following morning for display at the festival itself, which includes two trades union sessions. If you would like to have a union stall at lunchtime during the festival, please contact us for further details.
Unfortunately there is no parking at the venue, although there are places available for disabled comrades. The venue is fully accessible.
