50 Years of Fortean Times (Talk by Ian Simmons)

The world is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine., and for more than 50 years Fortean Times magazine has been trying to keep up with the torrent of strangeness - rains of fish, spontaneous human combustion, UFOs, drunk Florida women running riot in golf carts, we've covered them all - News Editor Ian Simmons looks back at the magazine's history and at the world of strange phenomena. Strap in, it's going to be a weird ride.
Hunter S Thompson once said "when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro". Ian Simmons has been a contributor to Fortean Times for over 30 years and turned pro in 2021 when he became its News Editor following a career in science communication.
