On Sunday 7th September 2025, the Northampton Music Festival fills the town with rhythm and joy. As the final notes fade from the Jazz Stage in the piazza of All Saints Church, let the spirit of jazz lead you just across the road to Shipmans, where Bruce Carlson awaits!
In the soft glow of an intimate setting, Bruce will keep the jazz music going into the evening with classic jazz songs and masterful piano.

Dress code: We don't have a dress code policy, however, business casual is recommended if you are unsure what to wear.

About Shipmans
Shipmans is the latest venue to welcome Flamingo Jazz Nights, and it's also one of Northampton’s oldest pubs. A public house has stood on this site since the early-to-mid 1700s! Over the centuries, the pub has gone through various transformations, including name changes, and today it’s well known locally for its signature cocktails.
With its cosy atmosphere, Shipmans offers an ideal setting for intimate solo and duo jazz performances. The jazz nights are held in The Drapery Room, which is perched above one of Northampton’s busiest streets, yet still offers a peaceful and intimate spot to enjoy an evening of live jazz music.

About Bruce Carlson
Bruce is a breath of fresh air on the jazz scene. Based in Bedford and entirely self-taught, he brings over 20 years of musical experience to the stage with a sound that’s both timeless and uniquely his own.
Blending rich vocals with masterful piano playing, Bruce channels the spirit of legends like Erroll Garner, Nina Simone, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder. His performances are never just recitals, they're living, breathing moments of musical expression.
Whether he's performing solo in an intimate setting or part of his band, Rouge 92, Bruce’s authenticity, passion, and artistry make him impossible to ignore.
