The first Saturday in September each year is International Vulture Awareness Day.
Vultures are an ecologically vital group of birds that face a range of threats in many areas that they occur. Populations of many species are under pressure and some species are facing extinction.
On the first Saturday in September, the aim is to highlight the plight of the vulture and to bring awareness of the ever-declining numbers of vultures worldwide and the devastating issues they are facing each and every day. International Vulture Awareness day is also to raise awareness and funds for the conservation, education and research work that is being undertaken to save our vultures. Together we can create a place where nature is protected, values and loved!
