Model Railway Weekend 2025

Our model railway weekend returns for 2025 with more layouts, traders, classic cars and miniature live steam!

This year’s exhibition will see the museum packed with a mixture of N, OO and O gauge layouts and traders. Confirmed layouts include ‘Penna Lane TMD’, ‘Heaviton’, ‘Burnard’s Drift’ and ‘Pelaw Staiths’.

Outside the museum, there’ll be steam train rides running on the 7 1/4” miniature railway and a display of classic cars in the car park.

There’ll be plenty of action on the big railway too!

Saturday: Full-line brake van rides hauled by 03078 departing Middle Engine Lane at 1030, 1130, 1300, 1400 and 1500.

Sunday: A mix of passenger and demonstration freight trains with passenger trains departing at 1130, 1230 and 1500. Full timetable available soon.

Exhibition open 10am - 4pm both days.

Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for children (5-16 years).
