About the performers:
Valerie Failess is going to play mostly her own songs which are mix of jazzy, bluesy and folky style. She told us:
“I wrote some songs in my teens, then as a teacher wrote some songs for children. It is only since I retired that I began to write songs for adults. I mostly sing my own songs that are personal stories or themes that reflect moments of my life or the people around me. I have eclectic tastes in music and that can be reflected in what I play, therefore I don’t think I have any particular style. Some songs lean to a traditional feel and some lean to jazz perhaps. I mostly play with a mix of finger picking and some strumming.”
David Ellison has been involved with music, in one way or another, for a few decades; he has played and sung in clubs, Irish, punk folk and rock bands (and the G&S). In this concert he will play mostly of self-penned songs accompanied on his guitar but also include the odd folk song to complete the package.
