As summer fades into fall, seeds mature on the plants - tiny bundles of potential, carrying stories, resilience, and the promise of future harvests. In this workshop, we’ll gather together to learn the time-honored practice of saving seeds from herbs and flowers grown at Fireweed Farm.
You’ll learn how to identify when seeds are ready to harvest, how to properly collect and clean them, and how to store them for strong germination in the seasons to come. We’ll also talk about the deeper meaning of seed saving: resilience, self-reliance, and the way seeds connect us to community and tradition.
The farm is full of abundance at this time of year, and there will be many plants to gather from! I’ll provide paper bags for collecting, though you’re welcome to bring extra if you’d like to take home a wide variety.
Take home: an abundance of farm-grown seeds to plant in your own garden, carrying Fireweed’s lineage forward into new soil.
Bring: optional notebook & pen, extra paper bags or envelopes for seeds, and proper clothes/shoes for walking the garden.
This workshop is first in a three-part series! Sign up for all three Farewell to Fireweed Sessions using the Package Deal for a $20 discount.
