On Saturday, September 6, 2025, we will gather at the Houston National Cemetery to do a great service by cleaning and straightening the iconic headstones of our fallen heroes, and right now, we do not have enough people. PLEASE come out and help us.
This will be our 4th year organizing this event, and it is always an amazing opportunity to give back to those who gave so much.
We do this in remembrance of the attacks on 9/11/2001, as we honor:
Those who lost their lives
Those who gave their lives
And those who saved so many lives that tragic day
This day is about showing what it was like in those first days after 9/11, when the whole nation stepped up, looking for ways to help one another in meaningful ways. That same spirit drives this event.
Volunteer Check-In: Arrive before 8:30 AM to be assigned a station and check-in for the service event
Remembrance Ceremony: 9:00 - 9:30 AM at the Hemicycle. Even if you cannot come or stay to volunteer, please come for the ceremony. It is a powerful event.
Service Event Ends: 11:30 AM
We will provide tools and water. All you need to bring is your spirit of service, and maybe a hat ;). Stay as little or as long as you can.

All first responders and veterans will receive a commemorative challenge coin at the ceremony, and all volunteers will receive a silicone wristband at their stations to mark the day.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you thank you thank you for anything you can do to help. Together, we can make this a great day for the cemetery, for our city, and for those who will never be forgotten.

For Volunteers

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
Bring gloves, hats, and water if you want (tools and water will be provided).
Families, school groups, and organizations are all welcome.
Students can bring service hour forms to be signed!
