Join KVAL and our community on November 18th for the annual Take a Bite Out of Hunger food drive.
Over past years, KVAL’s drive has made a significant impact: for example, in 2023 the drive in Coos Bay collected 4,062 pounds of food plus $3,741 in monetary donations, equating to approximately 14,358 meals for local families.
This year, with federal food assistance programs under strain and local needs rising, we are especially inviting the community to step into the gap: your donation of non-perishable food or funds will help fill the space where hunger is growing, and ensure our neighbors don’t go without.
How you can help:
Bring non-perishable food items to the designated collection site on November 18th.
Make a monetary donation if you’re unable to bring food — every dollar goes further by multiplying into meals through our partner organizations.
Share this event with your friends, colleagues and family — each person who participates turns a gap into a lifeline.
Why it matters:
As the “Stepping into the Gap” campaign emphasizes, when benefits decline or unexpected pressures hit households, it’s community action that fills the void. By joining KVAL’s food drive, you are directly helping purchase and distribute fresh, nutritious food via South Coast Food Share to families across Coos and Curry Counties who might otherwise go without.
Let’s make November 18th a day where we not only take a bite out of hunger — we step into the gap together.
