Intro to Mixed Media

Three-Part Session
In this three-part workshop, students will explore the foundations of drawing while incorporating a variety of mixed media tools to enhance their work. In the first session, we’ll focus on drawing three-dimensional objects with attention to shape, proportion, and shading techniques. Students will experiment with graphite and charcoal to build contrast and depth. The second class introduces perspective and composition through landscape drawing. Using personal reference photos, students will apply near-to-far techniques and bring their drawings to life with watercolor washes and detailing tools. In the final class, we’ll explore the basics of portraiture, including human and animal faces from various angles, while using soft pastels to build color, tone, and expressive shading.
This class is ideal for beginner to early intermediate students looking to expand their drawing skills and experiment with multiple mediums. Independent practice between sessions is encouraged to reinforce techniques.
