NCom Film Club presents Marx Brothers Triple Features Month!
First, in an effort to keep his business, Hotel de Cocoanuts, from bankruptcy, owner Hammer flatters and cajoles the wealthy Mrs. Potter, his only paying guest. While Mrs. Potter's daughter, Polly, has romantic designs on the hotel clerk, Bob, two other guests compete with Hammer for Mrs. Potter's attentions. Meanwhile, brothers Harpo and Chico take advantage of Hammer's inattention to wreak havoc around the hotel.
Second, the well-known explorer and hunter Captain Spaulding has just returned from Africa, and is being welcomed home with a lavish party at the estate of influential society matron Mrs. Rittenhouse when a valuable painting goes missing. The intrepid Captain Spaulding attempts to solve the crime with the help of his silly secretary Horatio Jamison, while sparring with the anarchic Signor Emanuel Ravelli and his nutty sidekick The Professor.
Third, the four Marx Brothers star in their first film written specifically for the screen as stowaways on an ocean liner bound for New York. Each of them has a separate adventure on board; from matinee idol Zeppo's romancing of a bootlegger's daughter to Groucho having to avoid the attentions of gangster's moll Lucille Briggs.
Films start at 7pm. Free and open to the public with a small purchase from our snack bar. We have plenty of seating or feel free to bring your own.
