The Washington County Playhouse Dinner Theater is proud to announce AUDITIONS for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!
Auditions will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Sign in begins at 6:00PM, Auditions begin at 6:30PM, Must be signed in by 6:45PM.
All roles are open.
Must be 18+ to audition.
Swings/Understudies may be cast/considered.
Please bring headshot and resume with you to audition.
Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show to be sung a cappella. You may be asked to learn/sing a song from Little Shop of Horrors at auditions, so familiarity with the cast recording is highly encouraged, but not necessary.
Be prepared to perform cold readings from the script.
There will be a dance audition, so please bring or wear clothes that you can move in and that show our choreographer how you move.
While in-person auditions are preferred for our production team, we will accept video submissions if auditionees are absolutely unable to appear in person.

In this email, please include your headshot, resume, a self-tape of you singing your prepared 16 bars in the style of the show. If you have dance experience or a dance reel, please also include that in your email. Finally, please include any rehearsal conflicts spanning June 15-July 25, 2025 and any performance conflicts with any of the below dates.
Performance Dates: Friday and Saturday evenings July 26, August 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, & 23, and Sunday matinees August 3,17, & 24. An additional performance may be added on August 10 if needed.
All performers will be paid a per-performance stipend. Additionally, those cast will be given the opportunity to join the restaurant service staff (if legally eligible, and following training) where they may earn gratuities.
Must reside within driving distance to Hagerstown, MD. Housing is not provided.

Character Breakdown:
Seymour Krelborn
Age: 25 to 35
An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills.
Vocal range: A2-G4
Audrey
Age: 25 to 35
Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor.
Vocal range: G#3-D5
Mr. Mushnik
Age: 55 to 65
The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative.
Vocal range: G2-F4
Orin Scrivello
Age: 30 to 40
An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour.
Vocal range: G2-G4
The Plant (Audrey II)
Puppet. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant.

An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best.

Crystal
Age: 20 to 35
Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon are street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality. Must be able to confidently perform tight 3 part harmonies.
