Sangeet Sandhya is Melbourne's premier Hindi live music event. In this free public event anyone and everyone is welcome to sing or play an instrument or simply enjoy the program. On any given Sandhya, you will hear everything from Khyaals, Thhumris, Bhajans, Ghazals or old and new movie songs from some of the well accomplished singers in Melbourne. As you know, we have an invited artist for each Sangeet Sandhya - typically someone with a high level of musical ability and experience as a public performer. We're delighted to announce that the invited artist for this edition is Abhijit Joshi.
Abhijit ji is a versatile Melbourne-based musician, who is proficient in the keyboard and harmonium. He has learnt music from Shri Adwait Patwardhan and Pt Ramakant Paranjpe, and continues to do so with Shri Aditya Oak and Shri Satyajit Prabhu.
With extensive experience in live music performances, Abhijit has provided musical accompaniment, orchestration arrangements and music direction for numerous shows across Australia. These have included collaborations with renowned artists from both India and Australia. His expertise also extends to music composition for theatre including background scoring and audio production (recording, mixing, and mastering). As a teacher of the Keyboard, Abhijit ji is committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
Abhijit ji will be accompanied by long-standing friend of Sangeet Sandhya, Shri Atmaj Patel on Tabla.
Please arrive at the venue by 6:45 pm for a sharp 7pm start.
