Geology Walking Tour

Join the National Park Service (NPS) for a unique exploration of Camp Nelson National Monument starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025!

NPS staff, led by our Paleontology Intern Emily J., is guiding visitors on a geology walking tour of the park grounds. The program highlights the unique natural resources and rich paleontological history dating back 480 million years. The natural landscape played a fundamental role in the site's establishment and defense during the Civil War starting in 1863.

The hike will be conducted on paved and grass paths and will involve moderate inclines. Participants should wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water.
