P&Z Meeting - Zoning Amendment - 12 Cold Spring Road

Everyone get ready for the P&Z meeting on August 7th 2025 at 7pm at the municipal center. Put this on your calendars. This is a text amendment to change the zone on the property for the current sand pit next to Middle Gate Elementary school, and in the direct location of a tributary of the Pootatuck River, Newtown’s sole source aquifer. Approving this amendment allows for the developer to apply to build cluster homes due to the zone change. This is in a rural area where you would see increased traffic, deforestation, contamination into the aquifer by building materials including silica dust, PFAS, PFOA, microplastics and more, which infiltrate into the ground and watershed around the aquifer, and into neighboring domestic drinking wells.
