ACAP Hickory / Foothills is hosting a free educational program titled "The Heart of Caregiving: Exploring Empathy in All its Forms" on Thursday, September 11th at 5:30pm.
The program will be held at the main branch of the Catawba County Library, located at 115 West C. Street in Newton, NC 28658.
This presentation explores the 4 distinct styles of Emotional Caregiving. Compassionate, Sensitive, Empathetic and Empathic. Whether you’re caregiving for a loved one or you’re someone that is supporting a caregiver, you’ll gain insight into how Empathy lives in our mind, body, heart and nervous system. Suzanne will help you to explore how these caregiving styles interact with your personal energy, boundaries and emotional well-being and offer some simple tools to stay flexible, regulated and responsive rather than being overwhelmed. Join us for a rich conversation designed to validate your experience, deepen your understanding and empower your self-care as you selflessly care for your loved one.
Program Presenter: Suzanne Cunningham, Reiki Master Teacher, a complimentary modality used by over 800 facilities, including Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Mayo Clinic, as a non-invasive therapy to reduce anxiety, stress and pain.
