Meet the writers who live and create in our region! On Saturday, Oct. 11, Newton Public Library is hosting its first-ever Local Author Day, a celebration of creativity and storytelling featuring authors from Harvey, Reno, McPherson, and Marion counties – and beyond.
Here's what we have planned:
• "Kansas Matters" Panel Discussion, 10:30 a.m. – Join co-editor Leslie VonHolten for a panel discussion of "Kansas Matters: Twenty-First-Century Writers on the Sunflower State." This new anthology of poetry and prose brings together 35 of today's leading literary voices from the Sunflower State, exploring how Kansas makes us feel and why we're proud to call it home.
• Author Fair, 1:30-3:30 p.m. – Browse books, chat with more than 30 authors, and discover new local reads during our author fair.
• Author Talk with Laurie Dove, 4 p.m. – Local author Laurie Dove will talk about her journey as a writer, and about her debut novel, "Mask of the Deer Woman," which was published by Berkley/Penguin Random House earlier this year.
