The talk: This talk will focus on the background and origins of a number of towns, villages, and surnames in the historic county of Lancashire, particularly in the Newton-le-Willows area. There will be time set aside to research your own surname and locality with the material provided and support from genealogist Chris Eve. Come and learn more about your past and maybe stimulate you to do further research! This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about local and family history.
The speaker: Chris Eve is a practising genealogist, an IHGS correspondence student, as well as English tutor, and has lived in the Lancaster area for over 20 years. He's been researching his family history since the 1980s. Chris was previously a librarian, gaining his MA in Librarianship from Loughborough University in 1992, where he specialised in English Local History. He is the author of Healing Ancestral Wounds; researching and redeeming family history.
This event is made possible thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, as part of St Helens Archive Service's 'Creative Underground' project.
