The council is hosting a fun, free, family-friendly eco-event at the Riverfront Theatre this October.
Newport EcoFest, sponsored by Wizard Eco, will celebrate sustainability, with tips and ideas for residents and businesses on how to help the environment, reduce energy and living costs, and improve health and well-being.
The event, which will be on Saturday 4 October from 10am-3pm, follows on from our two big eco-events last year: Newport: Saving Energy Event, and Net Zero Newport: The Electric Experience.
There’ll be lots of family-friendly activities to enjoy, such as a library corner, toy play area, painting and crafting sessions, and bug hotels.
There’ll also be lots of information stalls and presentations where you can find out more about saving energy, and even the opportunity to get one-on-one advice from experts.
Making a return this year from the Saving Energy Event will be the very popular carbon capture game, where players can have a go at a Crystal Maze-style challenge of trying catch as many of the ‘carbon’ balls as possible.
Meanwhile, if you’re curious about electric vehicles and fancy taking one for a spin, then we’ll have plenty of cars available for you to try.
On top of this, there will also be lots of other fun activities, including:
• performances from Children’s Laureate of Wales Alex Wharton
• performances from Tin Shed Theatre
• junk orchestra
• food vendors
• a sustainable shopping corner

Bydd Gŵyl Eco Casnewydd, a noddir gan Wizard Eco, yn dathlu cynaliadwyedd, gydag awgrymiadau a syniadau i drigolion a busnesau ar sut i helpu'r amgylchedd, lleihau costau ynni a byw, a gwella iechyd a lles.
Mae'r digwyddiad, a fydd yn cael ei gynnal ddydd Sadwrn 4 Hydref rhwng 10yb-3yp, yn dilyn ein dau ddigwyddiad eco mawr y llynedd: Casnewydd: Digwyddiad Arbed Ynni, a Casnewydd Sero Net: Y Profiad Trydanol.
Bydd llawer o weithgareddau teuluol i'w mwynhau, fel cornel ddarllen, ardal chwarae â theganau, sesiynau paentio a chrefft, a gwestai pryfed.
Bydd yna hefyd lawer o stondinau gwybodaeth a chyflwyniadau lle gallwch ddarganfod mwy am arbed ynni, a hyd yn oed cael cyfle i gael cyngor un i un gan arbenigwyr.
Yn dychwelyd eleni o'r Digwyddiad Arbed Ynni fydd y gêm dal carbon boblogaidd iawn, lle gall chwaraewyr roi cynnig ar her debyg i’r ‘Crystal Maze’ i geisio dal cynifer o'r peli ‘carbon’ â phosib.
Yn y cyfamser, os ydych chi'n chwilfrydig am gerbydau trydan ac yn awyddus i roi cynnig ar un, yna bydd gennym ddigon o geir ar gael i chi drio.
Ar ben hynny, bydd llawer o weithgareddau hwyliog eraill hefyd, gan gynnwys:
