Drawing on Nature: How Art Connects Us to Conservation

Join the MidCoast Watersheds Council to hear from Ram Papish as he shares his journey from painting birds as a child to becoming a full-time artist and conservation communicator. Ram will showcase a wide range of his illustrations and demonstrate the techniques he uses to bring wildlife to life on the page. The presentation will also explore the intersection of art and science, and how creative work can support efforts to protect special places on the Oregon Coast.

Art is a powerful tool that can be used to connect people to wildlife, promote conservation, and celebrate the natural world. Ram Papish, a professional wildlife artist based on the Oregon Coast, has spent his life capturing the beauty of birds, mammals, and native landscapes through illustration. His work appears in interpretive signs, books, and posters across the Pacific Northwest, inspiring curiosity and care for the species we share our home with.
