Class description
Inspire your child with Creativity and the Elements of Art, a seven-week Pre-K program at Perry County Council of the Arts! Guided by artist and instructor Janice Bailor, young learners will explore all seven Elements of Art: Color, Value, Line, Shape, Space, Texture, and Form, through engaging hands-on projects, storytelling, art gallery adventures, and visits from local artists.
Each 45-minute class will begin with storytime, featuring a book that inspires creativity and ties into a fun, themed art project for the day’s lesson. Young artists will also take mini field trips through the Landis House gallery to see how local artists bring the Elements of Art to life in their work.
Throughout the class series, children will experiment with painting, collage, weaving, sculpture, and more while developing fine motor skills, confidence, and knowledge of foundational art concepts. By the end of the program, every child will have a collection of imaginative artworks to take home and share with pride.
Featured Books will include Sky Color, The Dot, and Ish by Peter H. Reynolds; Snippets and Scribble Stones by Diane Alber; and Beautiful Oops! by Barney Saltzberg.
