Victory in Europe Day Celebration

We’re tossing it back to May 8, 1945 – 80 years ago! – to the Victory in Europe celebrations that happened across the United States, the United Kingdom, and around the world! Immerse yourself in the celebratory atmosphere with live music and performances by the Doorway Singers, dancing, and dance lessons.

Dress in your best 1945 gear for a costume contest with prizes for best military, best civilian, and crowd favorite. A 1940s photographer will capture all your memories at the photobooth.

The Hampton Roads Wartime Women and Virginia War Museum staff will be on hand with displays and activities related to WWII and VE Day, and we'll end the night with the Lamp Lights of Peace Ceremony - a worldwide moment of remembrance and celebration of the strength of communities.

Food will be catered by Smoke BBQ. The event will include a cash bar with beer, wine, and select cocktails. Drink tickets may be purchased at the event for $10 each. This is a 21 and older event.

The VE Day Celebration is presented by the Virginia War Museum Foundation as a fundraiser, and it will include a 50-50 as well as other opportunities to support the Foundation's important work as a partner to the Museum.
