La Leche League Series Meetings are open to all interested mothers and parents (pregnant, nursing and otherwise). Series meetings tend to focus on nursing during the first years. Those nursing children of any age are always welcome and encouraged to come share triumphs and trials, enjoy mother-to-mother parent-to-parent support, gather information and form relationships with other nursing mothers.
ENRICHMENT MEETINGS are available for those looking for further information, support and friendship on topics within the La Leche League Philosophies.
Temperament
Temperament refers to personality traits that determine how someone reacts to the world. Are they quiet or rambunctious? Easygoing or apprehensive? The traits of temperament are mostly innate traits that we are born with, although they can be influenced by an individual’s family, culture or their experiences. A person’s temperament style plays a role in how they behave and interact with other people and within their world.
Join us at today's Enrichment Gathering as we explore the unique combination of personality or temperament traits. These traits are part of someone’s personality and one of the ways that makes each of us unique. There is no right or wrong temperament—every person has their own unique style of thinking, acting and interacting with the world. Knowing your child helps you to be better "attuned" to your child and respond in the way you need.
Bring a friend, your partner/support person and a blanket to sit on.
Dr Siegel's Book, The Whole Brain Child, which is available in the at no cost LLLC Library emphasizes the importance of parental acceptance and understanding of a child's individual characteristics, rather than solely focusing on temperament types. He suggests that a secure and nurturing environment is crucial for healthy development, regardless of a child's temperament.
