If you want to feel confident and well-prepared for your mountain adventures, this course is ideal for you. We will cover all the essential equipment and help you develop your skills in map reading and compass usage.

Who is it for?

What does it cover?
- During this course you will learn about the 4Ds of navigation Direction, Distance, Duration, Description/Destination.
- You will familiarise yourself on how to read a map and the functionality of using a compass.
- You will learn how to read a six figure grid reference.
- You will also review what kit is required to keep you safe during your time in the mountains.
Experience required?
No previous experience is required, maps and compassed provided, and as this course is in the lowlands of the Mournes minimal fitness is required (walk 5km comfortably).
