This workshop is designed for complete beginners or those who haven’t sewn in a while and want to rebuild their confidence. You’ll learn how to use a sewing machine and practise essential sewing techniques. Each week, you’ll complete a simple project to build your skills step by step.

Course Outline:
Week 1 (25th July): Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine & Making a Scrunchie
• How to thread the sewing machine
• Winding the bobbin correctly
• Practising sewing straight lines and corners
• Step-by-step scrunchie making
Week 2 (1st August): Drawstring Bag with lining
• Understanding basic pattern symbols
• Drawstring bag construction techniques
• Creating a casing for drawstrings
Week 3 (8th August): Tote Bag with Patch Pocket
• Learn how to sew a classic tote bag
• Add a patch pocket for extra functionality
• Learn how to sew a French seam
• Create and attach shoulder straps
• Focus on sturdy construction and clean finishing techniques
Week 4 (15th August): Flat Zipped Pouch
• Learn zipper insertion techniques
• Construct a stylish and functional flat pouch
What tools and materials provided!
- Sewing machines, Fabrics and Threads, Elastic, String, Webbing Strap, Zipper, Pins and Safety pins, Fabric scissors, Iron and Ironing board, Patterns and Handouts
Parking:
