Reduce electronic waste: short talk at midday on the preparing for the end of Windows 10.
Microsoft’s support for Windows 10 ends on 14th October 2025.
However, there are alternatives for W10 users who do not wish to buy new W11 computers.
Join Godfrey Green, experienced in Windows and Linux operating systems and hear his tips.
Join our fabulous fixers and kitchen crew at this friendly community repair event.
Please bring along 1 item per person to be fixed (more than 1 item is at the discretion of the repairers - depending on how busy they are) and ensure its clean.
Please remember to bring bulbs, CDs, records, etc. so that we can diagnose faults and test if an item has been repaired.
If an item looks like it will take a long time (more than 30 mins) to fix, we will refer you elsewhere, to preserve time for others who have brought their items along.
HOW THE REPAIR CAFE WORKS
1. Go to the welcome desk when you arrive and fill in the paper form, or ideally scan the QR code on your smartphone and fill in the form whilst you are queuing.
https://repaircafewales.org/what-are-you-having-repaired-today/
2. The welcome desk team will tell you where to go.
3. If you need to wait, get a tea and cake and relax in the cafe area and enjoy a nice friendly chat.
4. When the Repair desk you need is available, take your tea and sit with the repairer as they talk you through what they are doing to fix your item.
5. When your item is finished complete the form, providing details about whether it was fixed or not and press submit.
6. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and leave a donation on the way out, if you want to (donations help us pay for the room hire and food and buying tools and equipment).
Repairers will have a go at doing simple bicycle repairs, fix wooden furniture, sharpening knives, mending small household electrical items, sewing up tears in clothes, darning, mending crockery and toys and fixing jewellery (but not watches).
We cannot look at white goods, safety equipment, microwaves or large TVs and reserve the right to refuse any item without explanation.
We welcome cake donations each month (especially if gluten free and/or vegan), please list your ingredients to inform people with allergies and intolerances.
The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet.
If you need help getting to the venue please email
c3Rkb2dtYWVsc3JlcGFpcmNhZmUgfCBnbWFpbCAhIGNvbQ== because we might be able to provide a volunteer driver.
It is OK to ask your friend to take an item for you, as long as they can explain the problem.
