Sunday Beach Exploration

Join Bill Sargent, a renowned science writer and consultant for the PBS series NOVA, to learn about beach dynamics at the mouth of the Merrimack River.
See the beach as you've never experienced before as we search for horseshoe crabs, Least Tern, striped bass, and anything else that crosses our path.
Bill will share insights on the complexities of keeping coastal structures safe, such as houses, and how "anti-erosion devices" like groins, jetties, and seawalls are not always the best solution for addressing beach erosion. Exploring Plum Island with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide is always an enriching experience.
