Our special Winter Solstice Session where we will be honouring the longest night & welcoming back the returning of the light. I will serve Cacao for this session in ceremony (please note contraindications below) and we will also set intentions for the coming year.
Cacao is rich in antioxidants, magnesium, and iron, offering numerous health benefits such as improved mood, heart health, and better blood circulation.
Rich in Antioxidants: Cacao is packed with polyphenol antioxidants, which help neutralize free radicals in the body, reducing inflammation and the risk of chronic diseases.
Source of Essential Minerals: Just one tablespoon of cacao powder can provide about 10% of your daily magnesium needs, which is crucial for various bodily functions, including blood pressure regulation and energy production. Cacao is also a good source of iron, essential for red blood cell formation.
Drumming has been done for 1000's of years for ceremonial purposes but it is only just now becoming a popular group event.
We gather every 3rd Thursday in the month at the St. John's parish room at the big church in Newbury, 7.30pm for 2 hours & we drum to connect with each other, with ourselves & also with the divine spirit/your higher self/Wakan Tanka (The great spirit).
Drumming is therapeutically good for your body, mind & soul. It can reduce your blood pressure, calm anxiety & stress & become a really useful tool for a regular meditation practice.
Please note there are a few contraindications: Antidepressants: Cacao can interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). The tyramine in cacao can lead to increased blood pressure when combined with MAOIs, while theobromine and caffeine may enhance serotonin effects.
Blood Thinners: The flavonoids in cacao may enhance the effects of blood-thinning medications. Not recommended for people with heart conditions.
