Join Friends of Chehalem Trails and partners on Saturday, June 7, 2025, for National Trails Day at Ewing Young Park in Newberg—a hands-on celebration to restore, improve, and connect with one of our community’s favorite outdoor spaces.
Friends of Chehalem Trails invites you to roll up your sleeves and dig into a day of stewardship and celebration at Ewing Young Park! On Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., volunteers will gather for National Trails Day to enhance trails, plant trees, remove invasive species, and beautify this beloved neighborhood park.
Hosted in collaboration with Chehalem Park and Recreation District (CPRD), the American Hiking Society, and other community organizations, this event offers a fun and rewarding way to make a lasting impact on the local environment.
“Trails have a unique way of bringing people together,” said Matt Dolphin, co-leader of Friends of Chehalem Trails. “At Friends of Chehalem Trails, we believe that when we care for our outdoor spaces, we’re also building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.”
Participants can sign up for a morning or afternoon volunteer shift—or stay for the whole day! No experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm. Tools, gloves, and plenty of guidance will be provided. Whether you’re a seasoned trail advocate or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend a Saturday, there’s a place for you on the team.
In addition to hands-on projects like trail work, invasive species removal, and tree planting, volunteers will learn about sustainable park maintenance practices and the importance of outdoor spaces like Ewing Young Park to the health and vitality of our community.
Because parking at Ewing Young Park and in the surrounding residential neighborhood is limited, attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or carpool to the event whenever possible.
Join us as we celebrate the power of trails to connect people to nature, to each other, and to a shared sense of purpose. Your energy, your spirit, and your hands can help make a real difference right here in Newberg!
