Khem Fest ignites with a high-energy Game Jam for high school students, co-sponsored by Prudential Community Programs Grant, NJIT’s International Game Developer’s Association (IGDA) Club, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the City of Newark Office of Comprehensive Community Education (OCCE). Students will collaborate under pressure to design and prototype video games inspired by Afrofuturist themes and principles, mentored by industry professionals. This day focuses on technology, engineering, and math as pathways to creation.
FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY
The Challenge:
Student teams will conceptualize, design, and prototype a playable game level based on the theme "Codes of the Ancestors," drawing inspiration from AfroFuturism, Adinkra symbols, and ancient African innovation. Mentors from IGDA and NSBE will guide them through the process.
