While the historic St Mary’s Church is getting a well-deserved spruce-up, we’re bringing its incredible stories to life right here at the National Civil War Centre!

⛪ Step into the past and explore the church’s dramatic role during the English Civil War. Learn how the Roundheads blasted a hole in its spire, how church roofs were turned into musket balls, and how faith shaped the lives of Newark’s people.

🔔 Hear the Bells Ring! Enjoy live demonstrations of bell ringing, try your hand at our mini bell-ringing station.

🎨 Drop in anytime to make your own colourful ‘stained glass’ sun catcher to take home.
