About this Event

The Holocaust Through the Documentary Lens - Pt. 4: " Orchestra of Exiles " Screening and Discussion

We are offering a series of documentaries that explore and reflect various aspects of the Holocaust. Each month we will meet to watch and discuss a documentary that offers a unique perspective about the Holocaust and its impact on so many individuals. While the films will not concentrate on explicit horrors and atrocities, they will tell stories of unique experiences that show the complexity of what occurred. After the screenings, there will be time for reflection and discussion. There is no “one” Holocaust story but millions of unique experiences.

This series is organized by award-winning filmmaker Aviva Slesin

Featured Documentary:

Orchestra of Exiles - ORCHESTRA OF EXILES, directed by Josh Aronson (released in 2012) is the suspenseful chronicle of how the celebrated Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman saved the best European musicians from the Nazis, by inviting them to come to Palestine to be part of a brand new orchestra he was starting. It was established in 1936 as the Palestine Orchestra and later, upon the establishment if the State of Israel, it became the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, one the finest orchestras in the world.(85 minutes)
