The Brooklyn Nomads blend diverse musical backgrounds, including Arab, Turkish, Iranian, classical, bluegrass, and jazz, to create a unique sound. The group is known for their contemporary interpretations of traditional Arabic repertoire and their innovative compositions, incorporating a wide range of instruments and vocal styles. They are also involved in various social justice initiatives, particularly around Palestine, and have collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma and performed at TED, the Kennedy Center, and LPR
Julia Patinella and Andreas Arnold's performances are a musical kaleidoscope of oral traditions rooted in resistance. In their expansive repertoire, the duo bring forth songs steeped in Mediterranean folk genres in various dialects, interweaving Julia's Sicilian roots, Andreas' classical Spanish guitar and their immersion in the Andalusian art of Flamenco. They are storytellers of history through the voice of the colonized, told through the raw emotions of protest and the longing for freedom. Above all, this duo embodies the uncompromising commitment to play every note with soul.
