This week, we welcome Jostein Gulbrandsen (guitar), Scott Latsky (drums), and Adam Armstrong (bass).


About Jostein Gulbrandsen

Originally from Norway, guitarist Jostein Gulbrandsen has lived in NYC for years and develop his musicianship and reputation as a versatile and virtuoso guitarist. He has released three albums as a leader and has played and recorded with Adam Nussbaum, Joe Farnsworth, Jon Irabagon. Mark Ferber and many others. He has performed as a leader and a sideman at Rochester International Jazz Festival, Trondheim Jazz Festival, Viljandi International guitar festival, Faro guitar festival, Blues Alley, Blue Note NYC, The Kennedy Center and Birdland. He is endorsed by Collings Guitars, Quilter Labs, Eventide, Godin Guitars, Sadowsky guitars and Curt Mangan Strings. He is also the author of ‘Modern Jazz and Fusion Guitar” released on Hal/Leonard a faculty member at Kaufman Music Center. He has given Masterclasses at Colleges and Festivals around the world and been profiled and interviewed by several major newspapers in his native Norway.

About Scott Latsky

Scott is a freelance percussionist and teacher who recently retired from being on the music faculty at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School since 1992, where he built the program to include seven percussion ensembles. As a drummer, he studied with Jazz great Joe Morello while still in high school, and went on to receive a degree in Jazz Studies at Indiana University under acclaimed professor and bandleader David Baker. Currently, Scott is a sought after percussionist in a wide range of genres and has been around the world both as a player and a teacher. He has had the pleasure to play and/or record with many of “the greats” including music legends Tito Puente and Lionel Hampton, as well as Bob Dorough, the creator of Schoolhouse Rock. His musical palette is constantly expanding, most recently to include Indian tabla, which he studied with pandit Samir Chatterjee. Scott was also awarded a sabbatical from Fieldston in 2022-23 to travel and study music throughout Africa.

About Adam Armstrong

Adam Armstrong relocated from Australia to New York in 2000 with the assistance of an Australian Arts Council professional development grant. In his thirty five year career, Adam has had the opportunity to perform with many notable artists, including jazz greats, Kenny Kirkland, Kenny Wheeler, Maria Schneider and Billy Cobham. Adam can be heard regularly in the clubs of New York City, playing with groups lead by a variety of artists, including Eric Person, Ken Thomson, Richard X Bennett, Christian Finger and KJ Denhert. Adam has toured through 34 countries, performing in clubs and at major festivals in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. He appears on over 80 albums, including two ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Award) winners, has played on the soundtracks of feature films, TV shows and theatre productions, and has given master classes and workshops at institutions around the world.
